Frequently Asked Questions
Does
Berlin Ambulance handle wheelchair transports?
Berlin Ambulance only handles
non-emergency transports of patients that require a cot as determined by a physician
issued medical necessity. For wheelchair van transports in or around the
Somerset area please contact Somerset Area Ambulance Association at
(814)-445-6141.
Does
Berlin Ambulance handle inter-facility or long distance transports?
In an effort to keep one ALS
staffed ambulance in service within the Berlin area at all times to handle 911
emergencies, Berlin Ambulance does not typically handle inter-facility or long
distance transports. If an ambulance transport is necessary and can be
scheduled far enough in advance, the transport may be handled only if adequate
personnel are available to staff the second ambulance.
With
which services will my ambulance membership be honored?
Berlin Area Ambulance holds
reciprocal agreements with Somerset and Meyersdale Ambulance services.
Please reference the Membership page for more
information on obtaining an ambulance membership.
How
can I schedule a non-emergency transport?
All transports may be
scheduled by calling our non-emergency station number at (814)-267-4112.
The on duty crew members will be able to assist you with scheduling
transports.
Does
Berlin Ambulance offer CPR or First Aid classes?
Berlin Area Ambulance
occasionally sponsors CPR classes for local fire and EMS personnel. If you
or your organization would like to host a CPR class please contact the station
by calling (814) 267-4112 and we will put you in touch with one of our CPR
instructors.
How
can I request an ambulance or speaker for a public event?
Berlin Area Ambulance strives
to be a vital part of the local community and is willing to evaluate requests
for site visits, EMS related presentations, or other public service details on
an individual basis. In the past we have made EMS awareness presentations
to Boy Scout groups and other social clubs. To inquire about having Berlin
Area Ambulance at your next event please contact the station at (814) 267-4112.
