Scale Replica of Model 502 Wins Big at Local Fairs

The field of emergency medical services can be demanding and stressful, but many EMS workers find relief in the form of various hobbies.  Berlin Paramedic Seth Forry finds enjoyment in building custom scale models of emergency vehicles.  One of his latest projects was Berlin Medic 502.  The building process began in January, before the real truck was even delivered or in service.  Construction of the model took approximately three months with an estimated parts cost of $150.  This 1/32 scale model mimics the real truck as closely as possible and features many customizations.  The exterior features additions such as a smokestack, vector lights, and a scratch-built A/C unit.  The interior is equally impressive with real equipment scratch-built from balsa wood and plastic, including the Lifepak 12 monitor, O2 cylinder, first-in bag, clipboard, and on-board suction unit.  The model was entered competitively in three contests and took home honors in all three.  The model was voted "Best Appearing EMS Unit" in the fireengines.net online emergency vehicle kitbash contest.  The model was also entered locally and won first place in its category at both the Berlin Community and Somerset County fairs.
