Berlin Ambulance Celebrates EMS Week 2007

On Tuesday, May 22, 2007, employees of Berlin Area Ambulance presented and EMS Week program to students in grades K-4 at the Berlin Brothers Valley Elementary School.  During the hour long program students learned about EMS through a PowerPoint presentation.  The EMS crews also stressed the importance of injury and illness prevention by offering many safety tips including topics such as safety around the house, bicycle safety, pool safety, and proper hand washing techniques.  The students were also taught how to dial 911 in the event of a medical emergency.  After the presentation the students were taken outside to the ambulance and allowed to walk through it to see what it was like.  The crews also distributed EMS related coloring and activity books to the students.  The Berlin Area Ambulance Association hopes that by making the students familiar with the ambulance and the EMS crews, that they will be less scared and know what to expect in the event of an emergency.
