Berlin EMS Participates in Farm Safety Day

Berlin Area Ambulance recently participated in Somerset County's  "Farm Safety Day" on May 1, 2010, which was held at the Berlin community grove.  Paramedic Seth Forry was one of the presenters who explained farm safety tips to the participants through a PowerPoint show.  Ambulance 501 was also on site for participants to learn about and tour.  The ambulance crew also assisted in establishing a landing zone for the Conemaugh MedSTAR helicopter, which served as the grand finale of the event.  The event was sponsored by the Somerset County Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania State University Extension Office, Conemaugh Regional Trauma Center and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and was  open to farmers, their  families and the public.  Just over 100 participants attended the event, most of which were children.  Other stations at the event demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher, safety around animals, PTO device safety, pesticide hazards, and other farm safety related topics.
